Project by New Performance Turku Festival in collaboration with Aboagora Symposium, funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation
The Floating Platforms project created a platform for new kind of encounters between performance art, science and humanities focusing on equal dialogue between the participants.
The starting point of the project was to create platforms for unexpected encounters between performance art and research. Floating Platforms is a laboratory for possibilities and a departure point for new processes. The performances seen as a part of Aboagora Symposium and New Performance Turku Festival are possibly only a beginning for a range of new collaborations and both scientific and artistic discoveries.
The project explored how performance art and science together can produce and distribute knowledge. The key issues for the working pairs throughout the project included being exposed to each others’ methodology and thinking, expanding one’s own means of expression and observing the dialogical qualities of an art and science collaboration processes.
