Highlights of the New Performance Turku Biennale 2025. Film and edit: Jussi Virkkumaa

The New Performance Turku Biennale transformed the city of Turku into a living stage for performance art. Heidi Horila’s article “Kaupungin täydeltä performanssitaidetta” (SARV: Kritiikin Uutiset, 13.2.2026) describes the festival’s works, spaces and experiences.

Although performance art brings political injustices and questions of identity to the surface, it is also, precisely for that reason, essential and meaningful to imagine utopias and dream collectively. To me, the ethos of the festival and of performance itself was above all a proposal, a possibility, a continuous maybe‑space.
