We are looking for mothers to call their children by name at the Turku Main Library on Friday 14.2. between 15-18.

New Performance Turku Biennale has invited artist Parsa Kamehkhosh (Iran/Finland) to create a new artwork for the performance art festival, taking place in Turku from 2 to 7 September 2025. The soundscape of the art work, presented at the Sibelius Museum, is built around a deeply familiar yet often unnoticed moment: a mother calling her child by name. The voices of a hundred different mothers—tender, urgent, and soothing—will transform the museum into an acoustic space filled with echoes of unconditional love.

We are looking for mothers in Turku to participate by calling their children by name. These call-outs will be recorded on 12–14 February in communities representing diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds in the Turku area. The working languages for these sessions will be Finnish, English, and Persian.

During the Biennale’s event week in September, these recorded voices will resonate throughout the Sibelius Museum, creating an immersive auditory environment. Additionally, the artist will perform live, adding another layer to the installation. His performance will interact with the recorded voices—responding, amplifying, and weaving moments where past and present merge.

We warmly invite all interested mothers to take part in this unique art project!

Open recording sessions:

Wednesday 12.2.

Thursday 13.2.

Friday 14.2.

There is no need to register in advance, you can participate by arriving during this time. The recording session will last approximately 5 minutes and please note that there may be a queue.

Parsa Kamehkhoshi’s work to be performed at the Sibelius Museum from 3 to 7 September 2025 is a co-production between the New Performance Turku Biennale and the Sibelius Museum. Recordings are produced as part of the City of Turku cultural services pop-up art programme.
